Regional Impact of the New World Order
What is this course about?
Regional Impact of the New World Order
The geopolitical landscape of the 21st century is undergoing rapid and profound transformation. Alliances are reconfigured with unprecedented speed, economic systems are destabilized by sudden shocks, established norms of international conduct are increasingly disregarded, and the future appears both uncertain and susceptible to the influence of a small number of powerful actors - actors who are simultaneously architects and captives of the emerging global order.

This course examines the strategies through which world regions seek to position themselves within this evolving geoscape and influence the trajectory of change. The capacity for adaptability and innovative policy-making will be decisive in determining whether regions such as Eastern Europe, the Indo-Pacific, and the Caucasus emerge as strategic beneficiaries or face marginalization in this evolving "great game".

Their strategic repertoire remains diverse, ranging from regional integration initiatives and new security architectures to grassroots social movements and innovative economic models capable of steering developments in a favorable direction.

The curriculum combines case studies, scenario-based analysis, and interactive debate to generate new perspectives and insights in real time, equipping students with the analytical tools to understand and assess regional agency in a multipolar and volatile world order.

Learning Outcomes
  • Apply Bayesian network modeling to complex political forecasting challenges
  • Translate qualitative political analysis into structured probabilistic models
  • Use GeNIe 5.0 to construct, test, and refine forecasts
  • Critically evaluate forecasts in light of uncertainty and model assumptions
Topic: Regional Impact of The New World Order
As global crises become more complex and frequent—from armed conflict and forced displacement to natural disasters and political repression—international actors are increasingly required to operate in difficult, high-risk, and resource-constrained environments.
The course “Regional Impact of the New World Order” examines how these global shifts are playing out on the regional level—politically, economically, socially, and culturally. Students will analyze how selected regions such as Eastern Europe and the Indo-Pacific are responding to and shaping global trends. Emphasis will be placed on regional integration, security dynamics, economic development, and the role of regional organizations and local actors in a multipolar world.
