This course examines the Ukrainian War as a pivotal moment in the transformation of global politics. It argues that the conflict is not merely a regional war but a laboratory for a new form of statecraft—battlefield diplomacy—in which military operations, sanctions, alliance politics, technological competition, and narrative warfare are integrated into a single strategic process.

The course moves systematically from the Ukrainian theater outward: first analyzing the war’s internal transformation of Ukraine, then Russia’s war diplomacy, and finally the broader global repercussions involving China, the Middle East, Iran, and the United States. A central analytical pillar of the course is dealing with uncertainty. Participants will be introduced to structured scenario-building and political modeling through the “Genie” forecasting framework, culminating in applied workshops.

The course combines geopolitical analysis, international relations theory, strategic studies, and applied political forecasting. It is designed for students of political science, international relations, security studies, and for practitioners seeking to understand how modern wars reshape global order.
By the end of the course, participants will be able to:

Diploma Award Ceremony

The Ukrainian War is not only a tragic conflict — it is a strategic inflection point. This course treats it as a prism through which we examine the transformation of military power, diplomacy, alliance politics, and global order.

Participants will leave with both analytical depth and practical tools to navigate an era in which war and diplomacy are no longer opposites, but intertwined instruments of statecraft.

ICEUR’s Unique Methodology and Decision-Making under Uncertainty

GeNIe 5.0 & Battlefield Diplomacy

The ICEUR Methodology and Working with Uncertainty

The ICEUR methodology has been developed to work with uncertainty, incomplete data, and complex interdependent processes.
It is based on analytical and scenario-based thinking that allows expert assessments to be formalized and transformed into structured, traceable conclusions.

At the core of this approach is GeNIe 5.0 — a professional Bayesian modeling environment used as the analytical foundation onto which expert knowledge and judgments are systematically integrated.

During the learning process, GeNIe brings together expert knowledge from multiple fields — political science, economics, geopolitics, and demography — as well as direct professional experience gained from working in crisis and conflict environments.

This allows diverse and heterogeneous information to be structured within a single analytical model, making it possible to examine relationships between factors and clearly understand how changes in one area affect the broader system.

As a result, analytical conclusions produced through this approach are:
  • Transparent
  • Reproducible
  • Explainable to leadership, colleagues, and partners
  • Suitable for real institutional and professional use
Key elements of the ICEUR methodology:
  • GeNIe 5.0 as the analytical foundation for expert assessments
  • Integration of expert knowledge from multiple disciplines
  • Scenario-based and probabilistic analysis
  • The connection between analytical thinking and practical professional experience
